Mixed pressure unit (60 bar) for heating, CO₂ diffusion, and expansion of polypropylene ethylene

Gumotex commissioned the development of an autoclave for processing expanded polypropylene (PPE) under pressures up to 60 bar. The primary goal was precise control of temperature and pressure to enable efficient CO₂ diffusion and subsequent material expansion.
Implementation:
- Design & Engineering: The autoclave was engineered as a mixed-pressure vessel equipped with an agitator to ensure uniform CO₂ distribution in PPE. The design provides stable 60 bar pressure and supports accurate material expansion at set temperatures.
- Production & Assembly: The equipment was constructed with high-pressure-, high-temperature-resistant materials and fitted with precision valves and sensors for monitoring CO₂ diffusion and expansion. Assembly included full integration of the mixing mechanism and pressure containment.
Outcome:
The result is a reliable pressure autoclave enabling Gumotex to perform CO₂ diffusion and PPE expansion efficiently, improving feedstock quality and optimizing the production process.
